As soon as the holidays are over, retail wastes no time before jumping into Valentine’s Day merch. And when they start coming out with those pink and red displays, we roll our eyes a little. At most, we’ll pick up some treats for ourselves, but no way do we think about making plans.
However, these guys may be onto something because, love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day sure likes to sneak upon us. And after the quarantine 15, grabbing a box of chocolates on your way home from work…well, it’s a habit we’re trying to quit.
Perhaps you’ve looked into ideas already. Maybe you haven’t given it a second thought. But we guarantee that everything will mention couples’ paint and sip parties when you do. And as the original paint and sip, we’re very much on board with the idea.
So, in case you’re not familiar or uncertain whether they’re for you or not, we’re here to spill all the tea. Because we may be biased, but we think they’re pretty great!
What Is a Paint and Sip Party?
There’s a paint and sip party, and then there’s a Yaymaker Paint Nite. Both involve step-by-step painting demonstrations and drinking (duh). But only Paint Nite works with local bars and restaurants. And only Paint Nite has original designs (which our competitors have a habit of taking!) submitted by its artists.
We have three ways for you to experience our sip and paint parties: in-person, virtual (live), and streamed (pre-recorded).
Is Paint Nite for Me, and Will My S.O. Like It?
- Do you enjoy trying new things?
- Don’t take yourself too seriously?
- Want to spice things up in your relationship?
Then you and your beau are gonna love Paint Nite! And mark our words, you’ll be back for another ;)
But Don’t We Need To Be Good at Painting or Something?
Hell no! This is an easy step-by-step canvas painting party. You heard us right—this isn’t a class. It’s a party.
Our goal is for you to leave cheesing from ear to ear, closer to the person you come with. And sure, have something on your canvas, but that’s totally up to you! It doesn’t even have to be the design we’re sharing.
Are Paint Parties Good for a First Valentine’s/First Date?
A painting date is perfect for first-time daters and Valentine’s celebrations. Here’s why:
- No awkward silences—conversations are almost handed to you.
- There’s something to break up the eye contact.
- They help you let your guard down.
- There’s food and drink to help you relax.
- You will laugh. A LOT.
Is a Couple’s Paint and Sip Romantic?
It’s as romantic as you want it to be. We have a variety of Valentine’s paintings and non-Valentine’s paintings for you to choose from.
Now, if you’re really looking for cool couples painting ideas, you’ve gotta try our couples canvas paintings. You’ll each paint half a design, and when they come together, the two become one.
Sip and Paint Date Night At Home
Get in the drinks, snacks, music…and you’ve got yourself one fun-filled night. Whether you have the camera on or off is up to you!
What Should I Buy for a Paint Date?
If you’re heading to an in-person event, the only thing you need to cover is your ticket and food and drinks from the venue. You’ll find all the materials you need, including aprons, at the event.
For a virtual Paint Nite, you can paint on and paint with anything you like—it doesn’t have to be a canvas or the colors we’re using. We’ve had people paint doors and all kinds of shenanigans!
But, if you do want to stick with the same materials as us, here’s what you’ll need for your Valentine’s Day painting:
- Canvas (we’ll be using a 16x20)
- Acrylic paints: Blue, yellow, black, red, and white
- Paintbrushes: Large, medium, small, and preferably a flat brush
- Paint palette (a paper plate, recycled cardboard, or plastic work)
- Cup of water in something you can wash/dispose of at the end
- Protective apron or old t-shirt to keep your favorite outfits fresh
Don’t want the hassle of searching for your own supplies? We’ve got you, boo.
