Drawing/Sketching

Unique Virtual Workhop: Learn to paint landscapes from photographs!

You don't have to be an advanced artist to take this class but some painting experience would be helpful. If you've done a few Paint Nites before, you should be good to go=)

During the workshop, you will learn a step-by -step approach you can use to paint any landscape photo. I will talk in detail about how to approach painting from  a photograph, how to simplify shapes in your reference and choose the best composition. I will demonstrate techniques for blending backgrounds, depicting bodies of water, clouds and vegetation, mixing colours, applying paint, etc. During the class, you will complete a couple of sketches from a reference photo and do several mini paintings to try out color schemes, so that you all set to execute the whole painting, from photo to canvas! After the workshop, all the participants will receive a pdf with the painting process steps for future use.

You will need YOUR OWN SUPPLIES for Virtual Events. You can get them easily from your local art/craft store.

For Sketching:

A few sheets of copy paper, a pencil and an eraser.

For Painting:

You will need a couple of sheets of heavy paper for colour studies (cardboard, watercolor paper or similar; copy paper won't work for this as it's too thin), a canvas for your final painting, acrylic paint ( white, black, red, yellow and blue), paper plate (or a piece of plastic/cardboard), water cup, a variety of brushes ( I recommend a large flat brush , a medium square brush (it's called a "bright") and a small detail brush) and some paper towels. Easel is not mandatory, as you can lay your canvas flat on your table.   Another optional tool that may come in handy is a hair dryer to dry wet layers before subsequent paint application.

You will also need to install ZOOM prior to the event. You will get a one time link to access the event. The workshop is ~3 hours you can log on ~ half an hour before.

I am looking forward to painting with you!

You may reschedule or cancel tickets up to 8 hours before the event starts. Read our reschedule policy here.
