Jam Tartlets
Baking Class
Jam Tartlets, or, as we call them in Italy, Crostatine alla Marmellata. A fun and delicious activity to do with the family.
Made with spelt flour, honey, and vegetable oil, these jam tartlets are refined sugar-free, and dairy-free. The best to showcase homemade or good quality jams.
The pastry dough of these Spelt flour Jam Tartlets is tender, fragrant from the orange zest, and mildly sweet.
In Italy, jam tartlets are eaten at breakfast, dessert, or afternoon treat. These are wholesome, nutritious, with a side of delicious.
Ingredients for 6 tartlets (4 in-10 cm)
250 g organic spelt flour + more for kneading (you can use all-purpose flour)
pinch of salt
3 tsp baking powder
the zest of 1 organic orange
100 g honey
1 egg + 1 egg yolk
80 g vegetable oil (I used peanut oil)
jam (any kind, I like to use different kinds)
We can make the pastry in a food processor, or by hand. The dough needs to rest for at least 15 minutes, then we will need a board, a rolling pin, 6 tartlet pans, cookie cutters for the top or we can make a lattice top.
