Lisa is a Niagara area artist and art instructor with an Honours Fine Arts degree from Brock University. She works mostly in acrylics, graphite, pastels and handmade paper. In her own art she loves to explore detail, shape, colour and texture, often closely cropping images to portray a new perspective. For her, art has been a totem in her life and creating art a journey in learning about texture, materials, emotions, process, the subject itself, and as a result, usually herself. Lisa mostly enjoys painting and drawing animals or nature and creating fan art of her favourite tv and movie characters. She believes learning to paint and draw is just like learning any other skill such as music or sports, it just takes practice. She also feels it's just as important to have fun and an enjoyable experience along the way. Lisa has taught classes for over 20 years at various art galleries and art supply stores to both adults and children and strives to bring out everyone's inner artist lurking within them. Lisa is excited to be part of the Yaymaker family and is looking forward to meeting all of the new artists who come out to paint with her at Yaymaker events!
