Hello! I am an educator with many years of teaching young students and adults how to express themselves using different media. These include: foam puppets, drawing, painting, science, technology, engineering (basic robotics)and paleontology.
In 2014, I was honored to represent my state in science teaching when I was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. Over the years, I’ve invited many adults to join in the shared learning experiences I’ve created for young people, including simulating paleontological digs, fossil identification and replication, and art associated with prehistoric life. I’ve worked with early childhood intervention programs to help students with special needs, and I’ve tutored adults and ESL students to succeed in English-based coursework. Nothing is more exciting to me than when I see a student, no matter their age, grasp an idea for the first time. I enjoy hearing from past students as they recall making a project or sharing their observations so many years ago in kindergarten with me. Representational art is my passion, and that can take many forms, from sketches to paintings to sculptures and puppetry. I love envisioning a project at its outcome, then working through the steps to make it a reality. Helping others develop strategies to create pieces that are satisfying to them is a goal I always strive for.
