Kailey Loadman was raised in North Vancouver, BC— which instilled in her a love for the ocean, trees, and mountains that dominate the area. Not daring to leave behind the coast, she moved to Halifax in September 2011 to study at Dalhousie. She is a few courses away from finishing a double major in International Development Studies and Linguistics (while she wishes this meant she knew a ton of different languages, this does mean she knows Latin and French).
For her grade two school project on ‘what I want to be when I grow up’, Kailey wrote about how she wanted to be an artist. She was captivated very early on by Claude Monet, and her favourite painting continues to be The Luncheon of the Boating Party by Pierre Auguste Renoir. She loves to paint and draw with a variety of media— often at the same time, combining string and broken mirror bits on a canvas, or charcoal and ink on paper. Kailey also enjoys using nature as a playground and staying physically active, especially through dance, figure skating, and triathlon. Often jumping at the chance to help whoever she may encounter, Kailey is excited to help Paint Nite participants experiment with art in a fun, laid-back atmosphere.
