Zoom 101 - Tips & Tricks
Do you get nervous before you speak online, since that’s all we have these days? Are you a little lost in how you can make Zoom work better for you? Do you want to make better connections with your friends online, update your manager with a status, or teach others online now that you’re working from home?
Join this interactive session where we will focus on some of the basics of communication on video platforms, including how to set your host controls, deal with time lags, where to look while speaking, and your gestures – all to be most effective and stand out on Zoom.
Then, we'll play with different technical options, from virtual backgrounds (the good, the bad, the invisible), to cameras (show your face), microphones (can we hear you?) and lighting (don't fade into darkness) – and I'll show you the difference in real-time between different options.
The event will be 1 hour, and everyone will have the chance to participate. No special equipment is needed, just yourself, and your computer or smart device.
Come to have fun, while learning some Zoom tips & tricks that you can use every day!
Hello! I enjoy helping everyone develop their speaking skills. This could be for professional development, including interview, status presentations, even large events and webinars. It could also be for personal reasons, from coaching your child's sports team or moderating participants at a religious event. While there are tips and tricks for in-person presentations, some techniques translate to our current online world better, and some need to shift to project better in video conferences. I have 30+ professional business experience across marketing, customer communities, and consulting. I present hundreds of times a year to both internal and external audiences, live and on webinars and video conferences. I am also experienced in the niche of speaking on camera, with awards from the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards, and 3 winners in the WAVE (Western Access Video Excellence) awards as a co-producer and speaker. My educational credentials include an MBA, and the Toastmasters International highest level of DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster).
