About the cause
For Love of Children (FLOC) is a leading DC non-profit helping DC students to close math and reading gaps and to unlock their potential. With FREE after-school, weekend, and summer programs funded by donations from people like you, FLOC works every day to fulfill its mission to provide educational services beyond the classroom to help students succeed from first grade through college and career. After the 1965 March on Selma, a group of attendees answered the call to serve DC and committed to teaching, empowering, and transforming the lives of DC's young people. FLOC's 54 years of work has borne tremendous fruit: 100% of FLOC's students graduate high school and 79% are either in or have graduated from college...and of those who graduated, 94% did it within four years. That's what this Plant Nite is about, ensuring more DC students can benefit from the services FLOC provides.
Plant Nite: Dig, drink and be merry
Join us on August 22 as we raise glasses, mini gardens, and funds for FLOC's students! When you buy a ticket to this event, $15 will be donated to the charity above. To date, Yaymaker has helped raise over $3.5 million for those in need with lively creative events that feel more fun than philanthropic. Your donation will go directly to helping FLOC students. Feel good about supporting FLOC as our local artist guides you and your friends through two hours of terrarium building, sipping, and laughing ‘til your cheeks hurt. The best part? You don’t have to be an artist to have an amazing time.
Total Price of this experience includes an Experience Fee.
Come create and party with us at Exiles Bar! This event begins promptly at start time. Please allow a little extra time to find parking and get settled. If you would like to sit with friends, come early to reserve your seats. *Please note, this creative party is only for adults age 21 and older and this is NOT a BYOB event --ALL food and drink MUST be purchased at the restaurant. NO food or drink is included with your ticket price. After a massive renovation, including construction of a new kitchen, second-floor bar/restaurant area, the addition of a billiards room and five brand new bathrooms, Exiles Bar is both excited and honored to join the U Street Corridor. New lighting and audio/visual equipment provide warmth and clarity to this historic building, which has operated as a restaurant continuously since the 1930s.
