Plant Nite: The Path to Buddha Zen Garden
Plant Nite: Dig, drink and be merry
Whoever said art wasn't alive? This week, join us for a Plant Nite party and dig into a new form of art-making, with real live plants. In just two hours, our master grower Elizabeth Laumann #Teamsmall will guide you through all the steps to make your own tiny terrarium that shows off your own unique style and will live on long after you go home! Absolutely no experience necessary, just bring your creative side and maybe a friend or two out to Teaism (Penn Quarter) Friday night and we'll do the rest. Yaymaker events are a great way to get inspired and to make a whole lot of extra yay in your week.
Total Price of this experience includes an Experience Fee.
Teasim, a collection of Asian-inspired teahouses that infuse the cultures of tea and the ideals of teaism with the informality and casualness of America, A collection of critically acclaimed restaurants that produce simple foods from the cuisines of tea, Bento boxes from Japan, curries from Thailand, and tandoor breads from India. A collection of tea shops with an abundance of tea accessories and exhibitions of work by local potters and artists. A tea seller with a constantly updated inventory of over three dozen teas that represent the best of what is available and a belief that selecting, serving, and selling tea is art and love not just commerce. Why? A desire to share our discovery of the richness and complexity of the tea leaf. A response to the corruption of tea, the style above substance and the use of tea bags in American offerings. An alternative to the obfuscation, over-formalizaiton, and xenophobia of traditional Asian and English tea houses. Directions: On the corner of 8th and D Streets NW. Visible from the Archives/Navy Memorial metro stop. Parking garage on 8th Street and metered street parking. Metro accesible.
