Sagamore Inn owners, Michael and Suzanne Bilodeau, welcome you to come and enjoy a taste of “old Cape Cod” while they honor Shirley and Joe Pagliarani, previous owners, and still serve all of the old favorites prepared just the way you’ve always loved them. Shirley (center) is a regular at the restaurant.
The original Sagamore Inn was built in 1900 along the old road to Provincetown, located further east on Route 6A between the Whaleback and Knowlton’s Auto Salvage but it burned down in 1930.
The Sandwich Independent newspaper chronicled failing efforts to save the inn and the New Bedford Standard Times took the town to task for not having enough pumpers and hydrants to handle the blaze.
The new inn (shown below) was constructed the same year near the town line and its most colorful ownership through the 1930’s was under Ren West and his wife, Mary Nye.
