As the nation’s largest organization of combat veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has an impeccable and longstanding record of service and stewardship. The Walter Hecklin Auxiliary 1791 is proud to be a part of that tradition.
Through community service and volunteerism, we continue to serve veterans, their families, and the larger community as a whole. Post 1791 was established in 1932 and named for Private Walter Hecklin, the first Chaska resident to perish while serving his country on foreign soil. On September 5, 1918, he was killed in action fighting for our country in World War I.
