Encompassing an area that includes downtown Buffalo south of Tupper, the Lake Erie shoreline,  Buffalo Erie Canal and Buffalo River waterfront, this area has a long history of travel, trade, industry and commerce generated by the Great Lakes and Erie Canal.  The waterfront silos tell the story of the ships that docked in our waters from around the world and the commodities traded, not the least of which were grains for the making of beer and other spirits.  Out of the maelstrom of the teeming masses of Foofoos, Lakers, Canawlers, Blacklegs, Macaronies, Whitelegs, Scalpers, Scoopers, Roughnecks and Runners our nation was reborn.  The Babel-like confusion of Canal Street and the Commercial Slip was the Western terminus of the new America on the march, the brave new world, the hope of the unanointed and the downtrodden.  The result of this amazing period of Buffalo’s history was that we were the “Silicon Valley” of America for over 50 years. We helped to lead the way with the craft beer revolution! Under the watchful eyes of Lake Effect Man and his buddy, the Brawler, we offer guests 8 bars on four levels and serve authentic and ethnic Buffalo pub foods.
