Virtual Event FAQ: https://faq.yaymaker.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002867611-Virtual-Events
Paint: For most projects, you can use any kind of ACRYLIC paint in colors red, yellow, light blue, dark blue, black, and white. Liquitex Basics Acrylics and Artist's Loft Acrylics are popular brands and available at many retailers. For most paintings, the average person will only need 1 - 1.5 ounces of white paint, and .5 - 1 ounce of every other color. This means your paint purchase will last for many projects!
Canvas: Canvases can be found online at Michael's, Jo-Ann, Walmart, DickBlick.com, a resale store or a local shop near you. I use a 16 x 20 Artist's Loft canvas from Michael's. You can use any size you wish, you can use canvas boards, wood panels, cardboard, or re-paint canvases you already have. Just be sure to give it a coat or two of white paint or acrylic primer before we start if you're repainting over an existing painting!
Brushes: There are LOTS of different brush choices, and every artist has a unique preference. Ultimately, I recommend a large 1" flat brush, a medium filbert, a medium round, a medium flat, and a tiny brush. This is the set that I personally use for each of my events: https://www.dickblick.com/items/06223-9155/
Easel: "Tabletop easels" are available online for $10 and less through Michael's, Walmart, Target, and DickBlick. An easel is optional, because you can prop your canvas up against something or paint with it flat on the table.
Other supplies you will need:
a cup for water
a paper towel, cloth, or rag
an apron or old piece of clothing you don't mind getting messy
a plastic or reusable tablecloth, trash bag, or newspapers to keep your table clean

Allison has a deep rooted passion for the arts and has now joined Paint Nite to share the love with you! Allison has a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in painting and drawing from James Madison University. Throughout college she was a member of Kappa Pi, JMU's honors art fraternity, and participated in a number of group and solo exhibitions around the Harrisonburg area. After graduation she began live painting at music and arts festivals and at local shows, and still continues to show and sell her work around Harrisonburg. Allison uses her art to explore her inner-self and believes in the artist in everyone. Come join her for a fun, relaxing evening at Paint Nite! She has a painting there that she has done herself and she very clearly guides you through it . A pleasure.
The host was very patient and helpful!
Super friendly and easy to follow! Also very understanding for those who are slower painters. Would recommend to anyone and will be joining her again soon.
