The Original Paint Nite: Unleash your inner artist

This event is for the kids, or adults, in the family and has all the fun of a regular Paint Nite event but in the comfort of your own home.  If you want to draw, you will need paper, markers, crayons or colored pencils.  If you have paint supplies, you will need paint, brushes, canvas, water, paper plate, paper towels, etc.  We use primary colors (blue, red and yellow) and black and white paint.  You will learn how to mix using just these colors.  We typically use a larger flat brush for most backgrounds and a small detail brush; if you have a medium brush that will be helpful.  Be creative and use what you have at home, maybe it is a recycled canvas, a piece of wood in the garage.  We will show you how to create this picture in approximately 1.5 hours. Please go to Zoom.com to download the required software program (free).  You will receive a one-time link to access the event.

NOTE:  Recommended Supplies:  Paint Nite supply kits and craft supplies are available for purchase at https://urbanpaper.square.site/ or you can use supplies you have at home.  Some craft stores such as Michaels, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn Fabrics are either open or have curbside pick up.   Check with your local crafter since some stores are opening up!

Yaymaker Host Nicole Haskey

Nicole is a Recreation Therapist, Teaching Artist, River Guide, and lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest.  In 2014, she moved from Seattle to Leavenworth with the aim of making a big life change - to escape fast paced, over-worked city life and live more slowly and intentionally. Since then, her goal has been to focus her time and energy on her biggest passions - the arts, river running, building community, and exploring the natural world.  As a self-taught abstract expressionist painter and fiber artist, Nicole can often be found coloring outside the lines and dabbling outside her main mediums. She sees art, as most things, as a life-long education and exploration, and especially enjoys sharing her passion through teaching and collaborating with others. Nicole loves a good challenge and sees infinite possibility in everything and everyone around her, often finding great joy in bringing new life to materials that would otherwise be thrown out, bringing mediums together in new and unexpected ways, and bringing equity and inclusion to the arts through teaching underserved populations.  When she's not teaching, she can be found on the river, in the creative flow by the stone fireplace in her one room cabin, harvesting fruit in her orchard, or exploring nearby trails with her favorite hiking buddies - her Husky mix, Brody, and her gray tabby cat, Mr. Mouser.

Nicole is super bubbly and friendly, however her webcam quality wasn't great so it was next to impossible to see details in the painting (though she did try). The majority of the time, the image on screen was of the original painting so we couldn't actuall

Nicole is lovely. Her voice was relaxing and her tips were helpful. I loved being at home "together" with a group. So much fun, and the price so reasonable. Highly recommend this experience, and our teacher, Nicole!
